The government on Tuesday announced a series of measures for development of Andhra Pradesh, including arranging <keyword id="20006597" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rs-15000-crore" source="keywords">Rs 15,000 crore</keyword> this fiscal and in future years for development of the <keyword id="19948211" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Capital-city" source="keywords">capital city</keyword> of the state. Centre to arrange ₹15,000 crore for development of capital city of Andhra Pradesh

Union Finance Minister <keyword id="19916618" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nirmala-Sitharaman" source="keywords">Nirmala Sitharaman</keyword> made major announcements for <keyword id="19903647" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bihar" source="keywords">Bihar</keyword> and <keyword id="19896313" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh" source="keywords">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> on Tuesday, including a boost in <keyword id="19916864" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="infrastructure" source="keywords">infrastructure</keyword> and special financial support. The announcement covers human resource development, infrastructure and the generation of economic opportunities to make the eastern region of the country covering Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Andhra pradesh an engine to attain Viksit Bharat. In her Budget speech in Parliament, Nirmala Sitharaman said, "On the Amritsar-Kolkata industrial corridor we will support the development of an industrial nod at Gaya in Bihar. We will also support the construction of road connectivity projects namely Patna-Purnia Expressway, Buxar-Bagalpur Expressway, Bodhgaya-Rajgir-Vaishali-Darbanga and an additional two-lane bridge over river Ganga at Buxar at a total cost of Rs 26,000 cr." "Power projects, including setting up of a new 2400 megawatt power plant at Pirpainti, will be taken up at a cost of Rs 21400 crore," she added. The Finance Minister said that new airports, medical colleges and sports infrastructure in Bihar will be constructed. An additional allocation to support capital investments will be provided, she said. She emphasised that the requests of the Bihar government for external assistance from multi-lateral development banks will be expedited. The FM also announce an allocation of Rs 11500 crore or flood control measures in Bihar. Funds have also been provided for developing the Temple corridors in the iconic temples in NIhar. The Kashi Model will be implemented in Bodh Gaya. Special funds have also been provided for the Rajgir Jain Temple site. Andhra Pradesh also benefited from the <keyword id="19908389" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Union-Budget" source="keywords">Union Budget</keyword> 2024-25 as the Finance Minister announced special financial support to the state, recognising the state's need for capital. "Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act- Our govt has made efforts to fulfil the commitments in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Recognising the state's need for capital, we will facilitate special financial support through multilateral agencies," Sitharaman said. "In the current FY, Rs 15,000 crore will be arranged with additional amounts in future years," she added. The Finance Minister is presenting the first Union Budget of the Modi 3.0 government and her seventh consecutive one during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. Union Budget 2024-25: FM Sitharaman unveils big sops for Bihar, Andhra Pradesh

So far, one person died on Sunday. Nearly 450 residents were hospitalised with complaints of giddiness, while <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/andhra-pradesh-eluru-mysterious-disease-cause-chemical-pesticides-update-1747655-2020-12-08">263 were discharged </a>after fully recovering, since Saturday Most of the cases of <keyword id="10387844" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="eluru-disease">Eluru disease</keyword> reported were from Kobbari Thota, Kothapeta, Toorpu Veedhi and Arundhatipeta districts. The cause of the sickness is yet to be determined. However, officials believe that poisonous organic substances could be the most likely cause of the disease. A central team was also scheduled to visit Andhra Pradesh to investigate a mysterious disease. According to an office memorandum issued by the Union Health Ministry on Monday, the team comprising Dr Jamshed Nayar, Associate Professor (Emergency Medicine), AIIMS, Dr Avinash Desohtawar, Virologist, NIV, Pune and Dr Sanket Kulkarni, Deputy Director, PH, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) were slated to reach Eluru today. The authorities have readied over 100 additional beds at Eluru Government Hospital in preparation for more potential patients being admitted. What are the symptoms of Eluru disease? Authorities said the <a href="https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/1-dead-hundreds-take-ill-what-we-know-about-eluru-mystery-disease-so-far/story-NS6B5QhWDJNOIhKc017RVJ.html">symptoms </a>persisted for 10 to 15 minutes and a majority of the people had recovered within a few minutes. However, at least seven were shifted to the government hospital on Sunday for better treatment. Excessive amounts of heavy metals such as lead and nickel were found in the blood samples of patients. "We found lead and nickel in the blood samples in excess amounts. This can be one of the causes. We are sending more samples to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi," Himanshu Shukla, joint collector, West Godavari district told IANS. He said scientists were suspecting these heavy metals were causing the mysterious ailment that has already affected hundreds. Shukla said water and milk have already been tested for these metals and their absence in them has ruled them out to be a cause. "So definitely it is not water and milk. It can be other things. Already we have covered vegetables if they could be a source and there are multiple other sources like sweets," said Shukla. Helpline for Eluru disease The District Medical and Health Officer (DM&amp;HO) Dr Sunanda assured people that the recovery rate is good, and there is no need for panic. The district authorities have also set up a helpline unit at the Eluru municipal office. The country tested a record over 1,000 deaths in a single day. The number of recoveries mounted to over 15 lakh, more than twice the active cases. Out of the total cases, 6,34,945 are active cases, 1,535,743 have recovered from the disease while 44,386 people have lost their lives in the fight against the deadly virus.
