Indian smartphone market up 8%, 5G smartphones account for over 70% of shipments

The Indian smartphone market reported good growth during Q1 2024, marking a good start to the year for smartphone makers. There was an 8% increase in smartphone shipments in India in Q1 2024. According to a report by Counterpoint Research, the growth was driven by healthy inventory volumes and the low base in Q1 2023. Another reason for the boost in shipments was the premiumisation trend among customers, with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series and the OnePlus 12.

Carl Pei-led Nothing’s sub-brand CMF may soon enter the budget phone segment in India

Carl Pei-led Nothing recently introduced the Phone (2a), the company’s most affordable offering. The company’s sub-brand CMF is now gearing up to launch a budget smartphone, that may be priced at half of Phone (2a)’s price. CMF has already introduced affordable TWS earbuds, but they come with their own design and do not follow Nothing’s transparent design language.
