MGNREGA wages get a 3-10% hike, average pay to go up by ₹28/day

The Centre has notified a 3-10 per cent increase in the wage rates for workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) for the financial year 2024-25. The new wage rates will come into effect from April 1. The average MGNREGA wage nationwide for 2024-25 will be Rs 289 up from Rs 261 for 2023-24 which is an increase of Rs 28 per day.

Won't tolerate that you are killing lions every day: Guj HC tells Railways

The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday said the railway authority and the forest department should work out a standard operating procedure to curb incidents of Asiatic lions being run over by trains, stating it won't tolerate everyday killing of big cats due to apathy of Railways. Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal observed that many lions have been killed as they are run over by trains in Gujarat due to the apathy of Railways and that the number of such occurrences should be brought down to zero.
