USA Network is pushing Wednesday's finale airing of "Mr. Robot," because of a scene that is similar to the tragic shooting deaths in Virginia.

A network representative issued the following statement to Business Insider:

"The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today's tragic events in Virginia. Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight's episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time."

The season finale will air in its entirety next Wednesday, September 2 at 10 p.m. An encore of the penultimate episode of "Mr. Robot" will air Wednesday at 10 p.m. instead of the finale episode.

It's unclear how closely the scene is reminiscent of Wednesday morning's events, in which a gunman killed a reporter and her cameraman while airing a live interview.

WDBJ7, based in Roanoke, Virginia, said reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, died in the attack.

The suspect in the shooting, Vester Lee Flanagan, who went by the name Bryce Williams on air, previously worked as a reporter at WDBJ-TV. Flanagan was fired and still held deep anger over the incident.

Flanagan, 41, shot himself as the police confronted him on the highway, according to police, and the Washington Post confirmed that he died at a hospital at 1:26 p.m.

On "Mr. Robot," Christian Slater's mysterious hacker character, "Mr. Robot," hopes to free Americans from the oppression of debt.
