To ensure that the unemployed rural population of India also fulfils its entrepreneurial dreams, a new programme is going to be launched soon on the lines of ‘Startup India, Standup India’.
The Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swaniyojan Yojana will be launched soon in which rural poor will be able to explore self-employment opportunities.
The programme, which will be funded by the National Rural Livelihood Mission of the rural development ministry, will have skill sets such as driving, plumbing, agriculture, horticulture, etc.
In case of funding, the Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency, or the MUDRA Bank will oversee it.
As per the Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC) data, one third of India's rural households are landless and depend on manual labour for an income, highlighting the need for skill development in these areas.
